I. Differences[/b]
Normal Rps vs Saga Rps
The main significant difference between saga roleplaying and normal roleplaying is simply saga roleplays are based on the main current storyline. This doesn't mean other roleplays are not important elsewhere, but whilst there is a [Saga] tag in the heading, it is considered the main story.
Often sagas are designed by the staff around certain characters in mind, though getting involved and staying active will throw you into the fold and into the main action, which in turn will result in better rewards, something that will be covered later on in this thread.
Pros and Cons
Sagas deliver the best rewards for characters as they involve many, if not all the aspects of the series, from training, fighting to finding the Dragonballs. What they also do is get your character's name around better, force you into the limelight and all together make your roleplaying experience better.
The downside to Saga roleplaying is the commitment to activity you have to give. Without prior notice and approval, you will be under a strict 24 hour posting rule, meaning if it is your turn and you have not posted within 24 hours, your turn is skipped and the turn order continues, until again it is your turn. Missing two turns will result in your character being kicked out of the thread and potentially the saga, so keep active.
II. Guidelines
Tightening up the rules
As I've stated in an earlier section there is a 24hour rule in place and has been for some time now, but which has not been used very often. From now on the rule will be in place 24/7 unless prior notice has been given. Main villains and heroes of a saga should be sure they can be fully active over the period of the saga, and if not should alert an admin ASAP. Turns will be skipped and damage will be taken if you cannot post within 24hours.
Playing the Role
Sagas are about storytelling as well as "roleplaying". When playing your characters you should be thinking what they would do in the situations, act them out, even if it means you get hit by an attack or whatever. I do not want to see a whole saga filled with battles where people are unable to control their egos and are constantly dodging and blocking attacks.
In-Form Characters
In the site's saga information area there is a section on In-Form Characters, previously known as Power Boost characters. I have changed the name and the meaning slightly to better represent the vision I had for the section. I'll clarify the meaning for you here - In-Form Characters are those that have shown recent form in battle and are currently proven "power characters", this does not mean boosts to stats, it is merely representation and gives that little bit of rp consideration when in a fight why you may just get away with a dodge or an attack. If you show to use this out of context, I will not be too happy. >=D
Death in Sagas
Characters are always under the global fighting rule whereby you must pm another player for permission to kill a characters, otherwise you cannot. That remains in sagas, however it is frowned upon if you are purposefully playing a character weakly and taking hits, but then denying such a request, on the flipside it is frowned upon to be mercilessly beating someone to such limits with the main objective of killing the character.
Remember there is a way to come back from death, so I don't want to see this rule used too often. No one likes to die, but if you do it isn't the end of the saga for you, as in the series Goku was often "dead" and was more than often the hero in some way.
III. Roleplaying
Meeting Conditions and Objectives
Sagas will be setup in such a way that things can go good or bad. The site can be won by either side, of course this being a difficult and often long process. Once a saga is completed, with conditions being met, another saga will commence, continuing the site's unique storyline.
Sagas are setup with conditions as previously mentioned. These conditions will show what it is each side must do to attain victory, most of which are straight forward, beat that guy up, whilst others will be more search or discover, not everything will be about battle.
As well as general conditions, there will be objectives, these being smaller, sub-conditions, which when met will give added bonuses and rewards and are highly advised you go after. This means aimlessly attacking that badguy won't give you the rewards as someone else who spends a few extra days ticking off their objectives.
Where to post
Previously we had a board where you would post in specific threads, made by staff. However we to revert back to the original format of posting in the main site's area boards, completed threads will then be moved into the saga boards for later viewing. Threads involving the main saga storyline will have the tag [Saga] in the title.
Objectives
In each thread there will be objectives showing what you should be doing in that thread. Some of these will involve you moving away from the action, intending to make things a little bit harder and more interesting, whilst others will be simple and straight forward. These objectives will give bonuses and rewards that will either effect the saga itself or will enhance a character (usually the character who completed the objective.)
IV. Rewards
Saga Condition Rewards
Completing Sagas, or parts of sagas will grant rewards to both parties. Usually stats will increase and on rare occasions abilities will be gained. Being involved is often enough to get stat boosts, but playing a bigger part will grant bigger rewards and boosts to stats, so stay active and stay involved.
Objective Rewards
Completing objectives are for the most part personal to a character or a small group, so these will grant stats to only one or a few people at a time. Depending on the task at hand will depend on the raise and whether or not something else can be given in reward. Objectives can sometimes have backfire effects on the saga, so whilst personally can give bonuses, for your team they can sometimes produce a decline, but that depends on how evil we admins are feeling
